Cosmetic or Medical Lasers

High Quality Lasers

We have deliberately chosen lasers that are used in most academic hospitals in the Netherlands. The quality of the laser determines, among other things, whether your tattoo is removed without burns, scars, or pigment loss. Many cosmetic lasers come from China and can be bought for just a few thousand euros. Their power is often poorly or not calibrated at all, and they frequently do not produce pure light, greatly increasing the risk of scars and pigment loss. Learn what can go wrong: click here

Pico versus Nano Technology

Here is the difference between Pico and Nano tattoo lasers in simple terms:

Nano Technology Laser:

  • Speed: This laser emits energy in nanoseconds (a billionth of a second).
  • Function: It breaks the ink particles in your tattoo into small pieces so that your body can clear them away.
  • Suitable for: This technology is effective for most ink colors and works well for most tattoos.
  • Disadvantage: Because it works a bit slower, it may require more treatments than a Pico laser to completely remove the tattoo.

Pico Technology Laser:

  • Speed: This laser emits energy in picoseconds (a trillionth of a second), which is many times faster than a nanosecond.
  • Function: It breaks the ink particles into even smaller pieces more efficiently than a Nano laser, making it easier for your body to remove them.
  • Suitable for: This technology works faster and can be more effective on stubborn ink colors and deeply set tattoos.
  • Advantage: Fewer treatments are needed than with Nano Technology, and the risk of skin damage is lower because the energy is delivered faster and more precisely.

In short, a Pico laser works faster and is somewhat more effective at removing tattoos than a Nano laser, especially for stubborn ink pigments. Both types of lasers are excellent options for tattoo removal, depending on your specific situation, the characteristics of your tattoo, and your budget. You pay a slightly higher price per treatment, but ultimately you need fewer treatments, so you’ll be tattoo-free sooner.

“I work at NS and unconsciously compared it to a train journey to Paris: you can buy a ticket for the Thalys or the local train. With both, you arrive in Paris, but with the Thalys, you travel faster and more comfortably. That explains the price difference.”
